Education and training
From our work with former homeless Veterans, we know that in order to avoid returning to their homeless ways, it is essential for our tenants to have the ability to return to and sustain themselves in employment. For those ex-Service personnel who are retired or too disabled to return to work, having a useful daytime occupation is very important to ensure that people retain their self-worth and self-esteem.
Education and training is an important part of the work we do to ensure that the communities in which we work are active, vibrant and welcoming to new ex-service people we house, some of whom have come from a background of long-term social exclusion. Therefore we have developed active partnerships with other agencies such as Training for Life, Business in the Community and Project Compass, to provide actual training or employment opportunities. We also resource education and training ourselves through our unique apprenticeship scheme
Pryors Bank Café, as well as projects such as our allotments and IT training facility Stollnet.
These training facilities, learning opportunities and back to work programmes are open to all our tenants and prospective tenants, regardless of age or ability.
