Isle of Wight kayak success for Foundation

On 11 August, two intrepid City workers took to the high seas in a bid to kayak around the Isle of Wight in under 24 hours in aid of the Foundation.

Ed Coley and Nick Tissot, neither of whom had kayaked before March this year, embarked on their adventure at 12.01am in an attempt to beat the tides, raising much needed funds for the Sir Oswald Stoll Foundation and Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY). The pair rook 15 hours and 45 mins to complete the gruelling 65 mile tour of the island; their top speed was 7.1 knots.

Ed Coley said: "We felt that if we were going to raise funds for charity we wanted to do something different and something which was a challenge to us both physically and mentally." Having set up their own website, it is hoped the mission will raise £10,000 to be split equally between the Sir Oswald Stoll Foundation and CRY.

Katie Truss, Fundraising Manager at the Foundation, said: "this is a remarkable achievement by Ed and Nick. Their decision to support the Foundation comes at a time when those Veterans returning damaged from recent conflicts most need our help."
