Martin does it for the Foundation!

On Sunday 7th March, a bright, dry, but very chilly morning, Martin Shannon made his way the short distance from the bed and breakfast where we were staying, to the runners designated entrance off North Parade Bridge, Bath to run the Bath Half Marathon for the Foundation.

He had been training for several weeks but the temperature had put him off wearing shorts - now he had to make the most of anything that would help his speed, so it was shorts time. We met up with son Martin , his girlfriend Joanne, his friend Mark (also running) and Mark's friends.

There was some laughter when son Martin realised his dad was also running as he thought we were there to cheer him on in support of his chosen charity - the same timing chip on their trainers being the real giveaway.

The 13.1 mile course consists of 2 laps, taking in some of the beautiful scenery of the City. Winding past the University buildings and up some challenging hills, but all 3 finished and, after a shower and short rest, they managed to replace lost fluids with some tasty Bath Ales.

Mark arrived home in 1hour 50 minutes, our son Martin achieved 2 hours 11 minutes and "dad" Martin was not too displeased with his 2 hours 31 minutes.
