Banstead Court - A Unique Project

The experience acquired at the Foundation in dealing with ex-Service homelessness has demonstrated that what is needed is long term support and a clear programme to deal with many of the issues faced by ex-Service personnel, often developed during their Service careers.

Ironically the training that ex-Service homeless personnel received whilst in the Forces has left them with good survival skills, helping them endure living in uncomfortable conditions. Recent research concludes that in London alone there are 1,100 ex-Service homeless.

The Foundation's Banstead Court site aims to address this issue, creating a unique supportive community specifically for former homeless ex-Service personnel. The site includes a Learning Zone, which provides a programme of counselling and employment training tailored to individuals, and a Tenant Support Officer who provides additional support where necessary.
