Our History

Established by theatrical impresario Sir Oswald Stoll in 1916, Stoll was founded to provide comfortable and inexpensive homes for Servicemen injured in World War I and their families. Welfare and clinical care was also offered so that these Veterans could live a normal life after serving their country.

Stoll has grown and developed considerably since these early days and those leaving the Armed Forces now face a whole host of new challenges. Stoll is now not only a specialist at housing those who have experienced disability as a result of their combat injuries but now offers support to a much wider range of Veterans fighting their own battles against some of the major issues affecting those coming out of the Armed Forces today.

From our original development of 157 homes in Fulham, West London, the Foundation now runs a further 76 homes in and around West London as well as a whole host of services within the community as well as outreach services enabling Veterans not living in our accommodation to lead the fulfilling lives that those who have served our country deserve.

Although Stoll receives over 200 accommodation applications each year – many from homeless Veterans – we only have the resources to meet 10% of the demand. Stoll, and those who have served our country, desperately need your help.
