The Sir Oswald Stoll Foundation is a charity with a mission to ensure vulnerable and disabled ex-Servicemen and women live as independently as possible. Since 2000, when it was discovered that up to one in four homeless people had a service background, we have focused our work on identifying and tackling the problems now facing homeless ex-Service personnel.
Whilst great strides have been made to reduce the numbers of ex-Service homeless, recent studies have shown that on any given night there are 1,000 homeless ex-Servicemen in London alone. We intend to change that.
The people we house are not only provided with good quality housing but are sustained independently in their own homes and within the community, with a good quality of life, through the provision of appropriate support services.
We know that ex-Service personnel can flourish and rebuild their lives when brought together with appropriate support within a community where they consider they belong. Therefore, creating and sustaining communities for ex-Service personnel is our overriding objective.
